Who We Are
A self-funded school club that provides girls and boys in grades 9–12 an opportunity to play the exciting sport of ultimate. The club consists of four teams, with both boys and girls varsity and JV, competing in the Minnesota Youth Ultimate (MNYU) high school league in the spring season, the MNYU mixed team fall league, and in tournaments throughout the Twin Cities and the Midwest in both the spring and fall. South Squall teams consistently place in the top tier of their divisions, with the Squall being one of the most successful urban high school ultimate clubs in the United States.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Minneapolis South Squall Ultimate Club is to give all students the opportunity to play and enjoy the sport of ultimate, learn and model sportsmanship at high levels of competition, negotiate through ultimate’s rules of self-officiating, and play with integrity in the Spirit of the Game.
Spirit of the Game
Ultimate is a unique sport in that it has no referees, requiring players to self-officiate games and negotiate calls together. And while teams play hard, winning is not everything. Playing within the Spirit of the Game is the true measure of success – teaching players valuable life lessons in honesty, fairness, communication, and respect, all while improving health and fitness in a fun and safe sport.
